to visit the actual scene of the crime due to security concerns. secretary of defense leon panetta yesterday said there was no doubt terrorists were responsible. >> as we determined the details of what took place there and how that attack took place that it became clear that there were terrorists who had planned that attack. and that's when i came to that conclusion as, again, as to who was involved, what specific groups were involved, i think the investigation that is on going. >> the romney campaign ramped up its criticism of the president's response to those attacks claiming the administration overstated the influence of an anti-islam youtube film in order to draw folk us away from security short falls. and the man behind the anti-islam film which sparked protests throughout the muslim world is under arrest this morning in california. 55-year-old is arrested. he is accused of violating his probation. as part of a probation deal, he was barred from using computers on the internet without special permission. a term he is now suspected of breaking. a federal judge denied him bail c

the implication is the defense between the israel defense and department of defense everything our understanding is as tight as every. there just seems to be a personality conflict between netanyahu and obama so what? >> it just happens to be a personality conflict with the man who has to make the decision whether to do the bombing or not. you overcome the personality conflict and you deal with it. you don't go hide in a shell and be afraid to talk to him. >> would you be meeting with morsi today? >> if i met with netanyahu -- >> would you be meeting with both of them? >> i'd meet with both of them. he is not doing the job of being candidate. president p.m. has decided he regards as a bump in the road he can take the time not to be president the next six weeks and let it play itself out. >> how do you know this isn't about a bump in the road? >> i don't know. all of those people being killed in syria doesn't seem like a bump in the road. >> dancing or march of 2005, it's democracy. there was a lot of chaos going on in iraq 2005. we ven said when we're there, democracy is messy. >> how long ago w

of the defense sequester that somehow is protected it's not pro tented as you were pointed out last night. >> there is -- i sort of felt like because the romney campaign has been so absent on issues of natural security, substantive issues of national security beyond just name calling i feel like the campaign should be encouraged now that they have tried to talk about veterans issues. there are huge issues with the disability claims but also other elements of the v.a.'s performance in terms of this current generation of veterans and older generations of vets and romney in trying to go there, in virginia this week, showed he didn't even understand the issue he was trying to make political hay out of. the problem of suicides among veterans and says a solution is he won't cut military spending in the sequester. you know, i don't think he knows what the relationship of the v.a. funding is to the sequester. i'm not sure he knows that paul ryan voted for that sequester or that at this point wars are the way you make new veterans if he's threatening new wars in iran and syria the way he's been so

issues, attacking the president on sequestration, the looming defense budget cuts effectively linking defense and national security to the economy which has been his primary message. the campaign has been flooding reporters with numbers and he mentioned them today, suggesting that sequestration cuts would effectively have an impact on 168,000 jobs, costing 168,000 jobs in the state. he said 136,000, 68,000 among small businesses specifically. and he was here with people in this critical battleground who he said have been to battle before. these are people in the military community, a lot of veterans here at american legion hall where he was speaking that he hopes will support his message of american strength through strength and not through weakness militarily. >> i have been a little puzzled by the campaign's posture on this because it was a republican and democratic agreement, the automatic triggers for these automatic cuts from sequestration if they didn't agree to a budget deal, and they didn't agree to a budget deal so this was something that the president and john boehner agreed

here? >> well, you know, i think the president, in his defense, very hard working person, he was on the phones to mohamed morsi after our embassy was attacked in cairo two weeks ago, working, of course, also on the phone to prime minister netanyahu the night before that, so the president's engaged and leading the united states in the world. the symbolism is important as you are inferg and would have been been better if the president would have been able to have a few bilateral meetings with the top leaders, leaders of the middle east in crisis, but there's no question that he's on top of his game and he's had a very successful run at foreign policy over the last three and a half years and it's interesting, andrea, to see that foreign policy has made a real comeback, right in the heart of this political campaign right now, everything from the middle east crises to the iran problem with israel and with us, and, of course, china as a scapegoat for both candidates really, and i think it's important that we continue this discussion of foreign policy as the debates approach over th

mode. he was put on the defensive over the 47% remark, so he's got to go out and illustrate all these new examples of empathy and compassion, even if that contradicts what he said last week. he's gotten in trouble because he didn't mention veterans during his acceptance speech at the convention. okay. well, now they're going to throw on a veterans event and give a speech to the veterans about, you know, isn't it terrible that 23 million people looking for work and, in fact, he's given it to a rather well-heeled crowd in the second wealthiest county in the nation. >> so, dana, does that kind of reactivity give you any confidence that such a mind could be in a position such as commander in chief of the nation. >> well, he laid out a case today about when he is commander in chief, he is going to spend an extra trillion dollars on dfers and yet he's also going to cut taxes and yet also going to reduce the debt. so i believe that if he can do that, then it will be worth us watching. >> you know -- >> go ahead, karen. >> you mention these ads -- that the president is running the ads i
